Reports To:  Dr. Donna Spiegelman, Susan Dwight Bliss Professor of Biostatistics, Director of Yale’s dynamic Center for Methods in Implementation and Prevention Science (CMIPS), and Director of the Dissemination and Implementation Methods Core of Yale’s Center for Interdisciplinary Research on AIDS (CIRA)

The Associate Research Scientist position involves study design and data analysis for observational and interventional studies with applications to the prevention of HIV/AIDS and non-communicable diseases. Hands-on statistical support of ongoing NIH-funded implementation trials on domestic and global settings is the major focus of this position. Opportunities for international travel for teaching and collaboration may be available. 

A second part of this position could involve methodologic research and data analysis motivated by problems of exposure measurement error and outcome misclassification in environmental health and/or on new methods in implementation science and could include conducting simulation studies, coding publicly available software implementing new methods, and assisting in the analysis of data for scientific and statistical papers. 

Qualifications:

  • PhD in epidemiology, statistics, biostatistics, or another quantitative discipline; strong statistical programming and analysis skills, SAS desired
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and organizational skills. 
  • Prior course work in epidemiology and experience performing data management and analysis preferred. 
  • Candidates with prior experience and/or interest in HIV research, prevention of chronic diseases, and implementation science are especially encouraged to apply.
