Professor Ayodele Samuel Jegede of the Department of Sociology, Faculty of the Social Sciences and Director of the Research Management Office (RMO), University of Ibadan, Nigeria, and a member of the Center for Bioethics and Research (CBR), Nigeria received The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) award in Social Science for 2020.
The award recognizes individual scientists from developing countries who have made outstanding contributions to knowledge in the sciences and/or to the application of science and technology to sustainable development. He is the first Nigerian to win this prestigious award in the Social Science category. The award was presented to him at the TWAS 15th annual general conference in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on the 1st of November 2021.
