CBR facilitates Institutional Training on Responsible Conduct Of Research (RCR) for Nnamdi Azikiwe University Research Community

Facilitators from the Center for Bioethics and Research (CBR) conducted Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) certificate training for members of staff of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State from Wednesday April 10 to Thursday April 11, 2024 at the University’s Chisco Institute of Transportation auditorium.

Pre-Training Activities
Prior to the commencement of the RCR certificate training, all 70 participants mobilized for the training program from various disciplines in the university completed the CITI-CBR RCR and Conflict of Interest courses.

Training Activities
The training started in the morning on Wednesday April 10 with ground rules and administration of pre-test questions to the participants. Afterwards, Prof Ademola Ajuwon delivered the first lecture on Plagiarism and Data fabrication. This was followed by presentations from other CBR facilitators as stated on the program schedule. The day was wrapped up with an interesting session where participants were able to discuss different dilemma cases on plagiarism, authorship, collaboration in research among other things.

On Thursday April 11, after Prof Adebayo Adejumo delivered the first lecture on Tribal, Religious, Sexual and Gender Harassment and its management, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Charles Esimone, honored the training program in company of other members of the university’s management team. He lauded the efforts of the CBR Director and Project PI, Prof. Clement Adebamowo for the great initiative and appreciated the management and faculty of the CBR for taking time out to hold the training program in his university.

The training was wrapped up with a post-test, the result showed a marked improvement of the participants’ understanding of the topics treated. The participants appreciated the opportunity to participate and learn; they also expressed their eagerness to participate in the RCR Diploma program of the CBR as well.
