Vacancy: Programme Strategy Committee member at the Africa Research Excellence Fund

The Africa Research Excellence Fund is looking to appoint two emerging and two established health researcher leaders to its Programme Strategy Committee.

Joining the Programme Strategy Committee is a great opportunity to help advise the work of the Africa Research Excellence Fund (AREF). AREF works to improve the quality and impact of health research in Sub-Saharan Africa by nurturing African-led research in and for the region. The Committee advises the Board of Trustees and ensures that AREF’s strategy is informed by expert experience and evidence in order to deliver its key objectives to build research capacity in countries across the continent.

The Committee is looking to appoint four new members who have experience of health research in Africa and who will understand the needs of early-career researchers. Two vacancies are available for emerging health research leaders and two for established health research leaders. Applications from candidates with health research experience in Africa, and particularly those working in francophone or lusophone countries, are welcome. Full details about the role and relevant application forms are available on the AREF website. The positions are voluntary and not paid, although reasonable expenses are reimbursed. The closing date for applications is 16 December 2021. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with the AREF HR if you, or any of your contacts, have enquiries about this role.
