The Center for Bioethics and Research (CBR) in partnership with Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) is pleased to announce new training programs on Ethics of Data Science Research Courses and Webinars on Topical Issues in Research Ethics. These programs include courses like:

1.            Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Human Subject Protections

2.            Ethics & Policy issues in CRISPR Gene Editing

3.            Social Media and Research Recruiting

The increasing interest in research involving artificial intelligence (AI) adds a new dimension to individuals who work with human subjects and those responsible for human subject protections.

These courses explore the current protections, regulatory elements, and ethics tools associated with protecting human subjects considering AI research, including their current limitations.

CRISPR is a gene editing tool that allows for the addition, removal, or alteration of DNA, including in human cells. It can greatly accelerate research and has potential uses in a variety of organisms from mosquitoes to human beings. This course will trace the international and U.S. policy and ethics responses to CRISPR technology use in humans.

Social media is a promising way to recruit potential research subjects. It enables researchers to reach broad populations and target subjects based on personal information. This course reviews common types of social media research recruitment practices, what recruitment using social media looks like, and identifies where and how they can get problematic.

All these courses and more are available to interested person(s), faculty, staff and students on the website of the Center for Bioethics and Research at
